Richard Scott b. 1853 Wallsend & Margaret Bell b. 1855
« on: Tuesday 09 August 11 00:19 BST (UK) »
Hi there, any descendants of Richard Scott, b. 1853 ('the poet of tyneside' and master blacksmith) and his wife Margaret Bell, b. 1855? I'm looking for family photos as their daughter, Margaret Bell Scott, was my grandmother. Strange we dont have any as Richard Scott only died in the 1930s - there must have been a few photos taken in the 1800s with their parents or with their children or on their wedding day. In return I have traced back their ancestors a few generations back, we could swap info!

Hello, I am Richard Scotts gr,gr,gr granddaughter, Dixon Scott b1883 d1939 brother of Margaret Bell, is my gr,gr grandfather, his son Ridley scott b1912d1999 was my gr grandfather. I do have some family photos including on of Richard Scott 1853, unfortunately none of Margaret Bell. I am also trying to find information on the family. Do you know anything about Margaret Bell b1855? Or just any information at all would be great. thank you Diana.

Dear Rosie,
The scotts must have married young then because I'm only 36 and Richard is 2 generations closer to me than he is to you! Great to hear from you. How exciting you have a photo of Richard Scott when he was young - I don't suppose you could email it tome at (*) ? I have a book of poems by Richard Scott (with his photo on the front) - let me know if you have that? Below the link to my family tree on ancestry.com with the photo on it, you might find some names/dates you don't already have:
http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/28280366/photo/1?oid=172fcc68-0cb9-4c92-8afd-6d2ce927cf23&pg=32798
I'm going to try to organise a Scott family reunion at some point (found quite a few descendants of Richard Scott in Australia) I just need to track down the younger generations. Any help with my family tree most welcome!
Thanks,
Louise.

Okay I have just found your message, right, I have more of our Scotts family alive and well in Belfast, Holland and like myself in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Where are you are you still in the North East?
Ther is a fantastic book I founf Called Come and See-The Beguiling Story of the Tyneside Cinema, which has so much information about our familly tree, there anre a few photos in there of Dixon Scott and some of his brothers and sisters but none of Magaret Bell, I am sure there must be a photo of her out there somewhere!! I wish I could leave my email on here but it wont let me so if you are on facebook, let me know.

Thanks
Diana

Never heard of that book, thanks I'll look it up. I'm in Brussels and London, on Facebook as Louise Rowntree based in Brussels (should limit the field). Thank you so much.

Rosie Diane, I just sent you a message on Facebook so we should be able to swap info that way! LOVED the book Come and See. The author refers to a Scott family history written by Robert Forster Scott (dixon's younger brother), turns out a descendant in Brussels of Edith Scott (Dixon's sister) also has a copy which I'm going to try see if I can photo copy it. Ideally it should be online for all Scotts to read...

Haven't used this before - hope it works!  I'm a granddaughter of Richard Scott's daughter Edith who married Herbert Pocock & lived in Southampton.  Would you like further details?
