Not everyone has subscriptions to those sites but many libraries do have Ancestry Library Edition (think only difference is doesn't contain the members' family trees).

Rootschat policy in regard to 1911 census has not changed but you can certainly direct people to the hints here-

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Doesn't everybody have either an Ancestry sub or a FindMyPast sub?

No - not everyone can afford it. A lot of people use Library Edition in their public library. Others go to their local archives or family history centres and research there, supplemented by look-ups from rootschat.

If Magslote puts in THOMAS SETCHELL 1910 into the 1911 search box on Find My Past, only one family comes up.

Then it will cost £6.95 to buy 60 credits.  To view the transcript costs 10 credits, and the actual image 30.

RIP 1949-10th January 2013

Best Wishes,  Nick.

And creative use of the advanced search facility search on the 1911 site will show who else is in the household without having to buy credits  ;D
