Scott died 1855 Selkirk - where is he buried?
« on: Tuesday 09 August 11 13:45 BST (UK) »
MY gr gr gr grandfather William Scott died on Oct 19, 1855 at the age of 76. His death reg. states he was buried at "Church yard Selkirk".  I would have thought that meant what is now called the old churchyard but a friend tells me he's not listed in the MI booklet for that cemetery.

Can anyone tell me in which churchyard he is buried?

I don't know if this helps but the Death Reg. also states that his burial was 'certified by James Chisholm, Superintendent.'

the main graveyard in Selkirk dates back to the early/mid 1800's, the MI register will only show the readable stones fallen stone are rarely recorded if fallen face first.  BFHS has recorded as much as possible, However I'm not sure it includes the old graveyard in the centre of Selkirk (adjacent the main car park) which was still in use in recent years - where family graves/plots allowed.
