Hiya Mike,

Superb details again.  ;D ;D

I take no responsibility for this post coming up. Some very kind chap called Mike from Leicester started the ball rolling on this topic with certain information and detail in another thread on a burial for Elizabeth Banbury in 1881  ;) ;) ;)

Seriously Mike, sincere thanks for your informative and comprehensive reply, just what I was hoping for.  ;D

;D…..Scratches top of head……” Another fine mess you got me onto “…… ;D

I take it this Claria was the wife of Richard the Saddler / Harness maker of No’. 2 Peacock Lane. ……

Interesting that Richard was buried in another plot
although it was not far away from this one ….

Thats correct Mike. Richard married Clara in 1833 at somewhere called Saddington.

I`m kind of assuming the second younger wife called Catherine perhaps had a say in where her husband would be buried. Would she want him buried with his first wife?

Because I have had no success tracing Catherine Banbury after 1901 I therefore don`t know what happened to her. She was substantially younger than Richard so she may well have married again  :-\ :-\ We`ll probably never know.

All the best Steve ;)

Greeting’s Again. ….Steve.

Sorry but something is not right here……….. :-\

Did Richard change his occupation ?

Whilst doing some digging around…….As you do…….

Found this Baptism for Jonathan King Banbury

1835.
St: Helen’s Parish Church. Saddington.

Jonathan King. Son of Richard & Clara Banbury.
Bapt. ..1st. March.

In the notes margin :~
Richard a Frame Work Knitter of Smeeton Kibworth Leicester.

compeared with Saddler / Harness Maker as per Census returns
born Beeby. ...

Jonathan is buried along with his Mother Claria in Welford Road.
With the right age. of 72.

I also see that Clara’s Maiden name was BRYANS  who married Richard.
5th. November 1833. by LICENCE at St: Helen’s Saddington.

So. …My spanner in the works is ……
Are we chasing the wrong Richard & Clara ?..... ???

Hi Mike and thankyou for your last reply  ;D ;D

I`ll list what I know and perhaps we can combine our logic and come up with an answer.

1851 Census living at Southgates
Richard Banbury      39   Licensed Hawker            Beeby
Clara                      40                                       Smeeton
Jonathon                 16                                              Leicester
Richard                    14                                              Leicester
Mary Ann                 11                                              Leicester
Charles                      8                                              Leicester
Elizabeth                   5                                              Leicester
William                       2                                                Leicester

1861 Census living at 2 Peacock Lane
Richard Banbury   42   Harness Maker      Beeby
Clara         49            Smeeton
Charles         20            Leicester
Elizabeth           16            Leicester
William         12            Leicester
Harriet          6            Leicester

1871 Census living at 2 Peacock Lane
Richard Banbury   58   Harness Maker      Beeby
Clara         59                    Smeeton
William         22   Harness Maker      Leicester
Harriet         16                    Leicester

1881 Census living at 2 Peacock Lane
Richard Banbury   69   Harness Maker      Beeby
Catherine Fox      19   Visitor         London
Flora Wilda      17   Visitor         Warwickshire

I haven`t been able to find Richard and Clara on the 1841 Census. However several people who use A******y and who have Jonathon King Banbury in their trees have basically the same information as I do.........................and here is the but.....................the information they have all listed for 1841 census

!841 Census ( HO107. Piece 605. Book 5 ) living at Thornton Lane
Richard Banbury   32   FWK
Mary                30
Jonathon               7
Richard          5
Mary                  1

I assume this is incorrect as Richard married Clara in 1833.

Another intriguing piece of information, Jonathon King Banbury (circa 1835) first born child to Richard and Clara, his grandmother was Harriet King.

Also Richard and Clara`s sixth born child was William Bryan Banbury (circa 1849 )

So in this respect I am assuming I have the right family.

What do you think Mike, can you throw any of your wisdom at this and make some sense for me.  ;D

Sorry about the names, ages and locations etc not lining up  :-[  Just can`t seem to be able to do that even though everthing line up nicely whilst composing this post.  ::)

Many thanks Steve

Hiya Mike,

Many thanks for your last reply and the information you posted in that reply  ;D ;D

Just wondering if you happen to know what a Grazier is? Does this fit in with a FWK or saddler/harness maker?

You`ve also listed some fresh names for me to conjure with  ;D ;D there is John Ward and Elizabeth Bryan then Charles Fox who gave his consent for his daughter to marry Richard.

Just wondering if your information lists a church for the marriage of Richard and Catherine or is it St Helens Church in Saddington for this marriage as well?

Many thanks again Mike for your continued help and interest in my posts.
