Castleford Electorial Roll (1916/1917)
« on: Saturday 13 August 11 03:44 BST (UK) »
I am hoping some kind soul can assist me. Can you please look at the 1916/1917 electoral roll for the following address:

19 Rhodes Street, Castleford, U.D., dist. Pontefract

The 1911 census will not assist me.  My father-inlaw, Sidney Edwards,  was born 16/03/1916 and this was the address that was listed on his birth certificate.  I need to know who all was living there at the time of his birth.

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Sincerely,
Linda

Linda, sorry I haven't answered earlier but not been on site for some time.
Bad news I'm afraid, 1916 &1917 seem to be the only electoral rolls that are missing from the records,
according to the Castleford library files, they aren't even held in the archives at Wakefield.
If there's anything else I can help with please don't hesitate to ask.

A very longshot

There is possibilities of names of owners of the property on the land register or leasehold/freehold that covered them years. If rented a landlord's company may have old records or the residents were the owners of the property freehold or names as leaseholder. Deed registers at WYAS Wakefield  may have names of the property owners them dates 1916/17

Probate records maybe worth investigating the address covering those decades

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth
