Hi
Would Gorryrue be the name of the the street/lane they lived in in Carrick on suir. I am from the Cunningham family and they lived in the Garrai Rue or Gorryrue which is also known as RED GARDEN LANE?

Hope this sheds some light on the matter.
Paul

Garraí Rua was the name of area within the town of Carrick-on-Suir.It means the Red Garden where there was blood shed in a battle .If you want to try to connect with people from Carrick-n-Suir I suggest that you have a look on Facebook, the site is called 'Things I miss about Carrick-on-Suir'

Thanks for all your help, you've offered a few possibilities that I will keenly explore.  Its only a small detail, but you never know what it may lead too.  Also, when you only have a few pieces of 'definate' info, its satisfying to know that at least you have them correct.
There was a place called Garryrua in Carrick -on-Suir its English translation is Red Garden Lane .I looked at 1911 and 1901 Census but couldn't find any of your names there.

Hi Hammond 01
I think I am researching the same Ellen Shea as you.  She was the daughter of James Shea and Bridget Marshall of Carrick on Suir, and was the sister of my ggrandfather Michael Shea.  If you also think they are the same Ellen Shea please let me know.  I am trying to find where and when she died.  Hope you can help.
