Soldier in Argyll

I have a Walter Sinclair, born in Tyree abt 1779 and his occupation I believe is a soldier.

Would anyone have an idea as to where he would be stationed and who he would fight with.

His children were born in 1809/1812 in Tyree, although that may not mean anything.

Any help appreciated.

Being no expert in relation to some of us here..., perhaps this might add some colour to your Tiree research.

Codes n = not in the rebellion
r = Confesses he was in the rebellion
G = Gun
S = Sword
P = Pistol
T = Target
D = Durk

I also found about 5 Sinclair Tiree marriages 20 years after that birth date..., but as you have the childrens details, you probably have all the information already.   

Also..., have you looked at the following; http://www.isleoftiree.com/history.html and more especially ; http://keithdash.net/GenRecords.html   The last will give you a better understanding of the troubles and the military in the region at the time.
