Hi,

The marriage entry isn't that great to read (if you want, I'll report it to SP) but here's the details:

William Aitken Cowe and Margaret Hamilton Rae married 7th June 1935 @ St Andrew's Manse, Tranent.

William was 22 (?), a cattleman who stayed at Riggonhead Farm Cottages, Tranent. Parents were William Aitken Cowe, ploughman (dec.) and Catherine Cowe, now Watt m.s. Lugton.

Margaret was 19 of 16 Park Road, Tranent. Parents were George Rae, coal miner and Elizabeth Baillie Rae m.s. Gordon.

Witnesses were George Wilson and Williamina (?) Rae.

Possible death for William as William Ayton Cowe, 1969, Tranent (b. c. 1912). :-\ Margaret's shows in Tranent, 1997 (b. c. 1917).

Unless the children of this couple are deceased, we are unable to discuss them on the forum.

Hi mcstrings,

William and Margaret's parents are fine to discuss given they're deceased. It's just privacy issues that prevent us from talking about the living. :)

Two records which will help are these marriage entries; they should allow you to jump back another generation to the grandparents.

William Aitken Cowe and Catherine M'Mil- Lugton, 1909, Haddington (GROS: 709/00 0012)

and

George Rae and Elizabeth B Gordon, 1903, Prestonpans (GROS: 718/00 0025)

Let us know if you need any census records, etc. :)

Ive just printed of the marriage of William and Catherine . The entry is a bit clearer than the last . I'm sure there ages are 19 and 17 . William'sfather is not so clear  I'm thinking James ?

I'm of to look at the other marriage you suggested  :) . any census would be great  8)

Hi mcstrings,

To find a definite in the 1901 census, can you post full details of William's age, occupation (if any) and parents' names, along with father's occupation and mother's maiden name.

Likewise with Catherine.

If you're having any trouble reading the certificate, post the portion of it and we can take a look.
