Hoping for MI improvement
« on: Tuesday 23 August 11 19:50 BST (UK) »
The attached photo shows a very weathered headstone with mostly illegible engravings. I am hoping that someone can please improve on what is there to enable me to at least get the gist of it.

I'm working on enhancing it right now to see what I can pick out, but a lot of the words are pretty illegible and would be in person. Did you take this photo yourself? There are some other things you can do to decipher weathered stones like this in person such as a crayon rubbing.

No, I didn't take the photo and, unfortunately, I'm not able to visit it in person.

I zoomed in and was able to pick out letters but they all seemed nonsense aside from a couple names and numbers. Then I did some checking and it turns out the headstone is in Welsh. I don't speak enough Welsh to help you out, though I did manage to pick out a couple words:

“MARGARET”
“GWAIG [wife] HUGH ROBERTS”
… “CHWEFROR [February] 22, 1903” or maybe 1893?
… “4? BLWYDD OED [at 4? Years old]”

I would suggest maybe posting this in a Welsh language forum as well where someone more familiar with the language can pick out more words and phrases for you.
