Sarah George 1891 census can anyone help
« on: Wednesday 24 August 11 16:28 BST (UK) »
Hi,

This is linked to the George family that Rootschatters helped with some time ago. It was completed at the time, but I've come back and need more help going forward, so hope this request is in the right place.

In 1881 Sarah George is listed as widowed (can't find husband James Benjamin George's death) aged 49 born Kidderminster. She is living with 2 daughters, Alice aged 15 and  Minnie aged 14, both born St Pancras. Minnie is my great grandmother, she married William Henry Sear (sometimes he's Thomas Sear!) in 1884.

What I'd like to try to find out is where Sarah George was in 1891. Can anyone help me with this?

He was never around much!

Have only found him with her in 1851 . (1861 1871 she is with the children) Thomas/Ann/Alice/Minnie

Can not find a second marriage with father's name Samuel Poultney?

Hi Jennifer,

Thank you for your reply. You're right about him not being around! I have the earlier census 1841 (where Sarah was a child with her family), 1851-1881 inclusive. In 1881 Sarah is a widow, but as I don't know where James Benjamin George was from the 1851 census (when he WAS there!) to when he died, I have been unable to pinpoint his death.

I don't know what happened to Sarah after 1881 either, I hoped if she could be traced in 1891, it might help.

I've just about given up on James Benjamin!

Thanks again.
