Interesting. Your man, a Musician (married to Mary, 1872) is shown as born c1835, Germany - Naturalised BS in the 1881 census of Weston Super Mare.

There is another Chris' Wagner c1821 & 1817 respectively in Bath / Walcot in 1861/51, also a Musician, married to an Emma?

Marriages Dec Quarter of 1844

This family group in 1841 must be him plus maybe Father- Christopher too. No relationships are shown in 1841.

It seems your grandfather was probably married before he married Mary Emmilene??

Do you have marriage cert for him??

This looks like his arrival into England

Anna Wagner
Elizabeth Wagner
Johannes Grau
Caspian Lommer (Sommer?)

Maybe Christopher was "back and forth" across the channel - there are lots of "Alien" arrivals at Dover -Christopher Wagner strolling musician  1838- 1842

From 1841 census it looks apossibility father was also Christopher -although ni relationships given

????????

Would you like to post what you know for certain ??

1891 census Christopher with Mary Emma gives Christopher's age as 69????

Can you see him in the 1871 census Suzard? - looks like Emma died in 1862.

I found the daughter Catherine from 1861 in Service in 1871, and marrying in 1872.

No sign of the Father & son Christopher.

Maybe they did flit back to Germany?
