Hostad family Norway
« on: Sunday 28 August 11 12:52 BST (UK) »
I've found the marriage of Torger Gundersen Hostad and Solou Thoresdr in 1790 Byneset, Sor-Trondelag.
Their children where born in Trondheim.
Gunder in 1792
Ole in 1794
Niels in 1797
Sivert in 1800
I'm having trouble finding Torger or Solou pre marriage, any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I've mainly used familysearch.org.

I have a census for 1801 were they are all living together, they're not using the Hostad surname here.

The straws to grasp at will be the original Parish Register entries.

Found Sivert's baptism in March 1800 quite fast:

#43, right

The handwriting is however quite challenging.......

Gunder April 1792:

Hard, but this is what I can make out of it:

**************************************************

D. 9 baptised legitimate child Gunder, father Torger Gunderson and Wife Solo Thoresd
Godparents: Ane Haldøen?? Giertrue Ellevsd. Martha Michelsd, Erich Andersen?, Niels Ellevsøn, Andreas Thoresøn

**************************************************

More when time aloows!

Solou & Torger's engagement and marriage May 25, 1790 is here on the right hand page:

 http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=16261&idx_id=16261&uid=ny&idx_side=-56

Looks like the bride is called Solou Thoresd. ?egaanden or someting.

Very tricky 220 year old handwriting....

It looks like it should be as the father's name is Høstad, unfortunately the mother's name isn't there and no-one has a patronymic. Interestingly all of the witnesses for an infant christened below are from the same farm Høstad some of whom could be relatives.
