Clonmel Borough Council keeps records of everyone buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery. 20 years ago I wrote a letter to the Town Clerk and got a reply so try e-mail or snail mail.

This may be of interest

Which Drohan are you researching in Ck on Suir by the way?

Hi Mick

many thanks for the response. I will try that. It is my grandparents grave and I have details of the names on the headstone but I l know there are 3 others buried there who are not on the headstone and I need some details of dates etc to get birth or death certificates.

My grandfather's brother was Frank Drohan. My great grandfather James Drohan moved from Carrick On Suir to Clonmel when Frank was about 7 in 1878. James's father was David Drohan and I believe that he was a brother of Patrick Drohan the coachbuilder. James started a coach building business in Irishtown in Clonmel when he moved there.

thanks again

Paul

A friend of mine is the great-grandson of Edward Drohan from Carrick who was killed at Gallipoli in August 1915. I'm not sure if your Drohans and his are connected though.

Hi Mick

there were 4 family of Drohan's in Carrick on the 1799 census. If he is related to the coach builders of Carrick, Patrick Drohan and family then he would be. Philip Drohan was Patrick's father and he only died in 1906 aged 101 !!

Contacted the Clonmel Borough Council and got an answer in 24 hours - brillant. Gave me details of an aunt who dies aged 7 in 1933 and the fact that she had a disability. Had heard rumours of this but could never find out any detail . Never been able to find details of her birth or death on the family search website or the rootsireland site. Now that I have exact date have sent off to Roscommon for cert. Would they have been able to bury her without registering it first as I have another uncle who is buried there having died age 2 and again can't find him on any website ?

Just heard back from the GRO - no trace of her birth or death certificate ! Have drawn a blank on this now - how would they have been able to bury her without a death certificate ? Different times I suppose. Is there anywhere else I can look for details. I do know that she was not raised in the family home - was there a home in Clonmel or nearby where children with disability were placed ?

Have you tried the local registrar's office?

And the children would definitely have been baptised so you could try getting baptismal certificates.

I see you're reaearching the Butlers of Dungarvan. One of my uncles married a Josie Butler from Dungarvan. They lived in London. He died in 1992 and is buried in Kilgobnet.

Dear Paul,
I recently spent 4 weeks working solidly on the Drohan family tree of Carrick on Suir. My primary interest is the Davin family  - as you would know Philip Drohan married Mary Davin.  I have built up quite a large tree that I would like to share with you.  I don't have very much on the branch you appear to be researching though so it would be great to compare notes.    I hope to hear from you.  Joanne
