Patrick Devlin born Hamilton, 22.2.1877

The last report of Patrick Devlin was January 1892 (aged 15) where he was reported to be working as a drawer at Eddlewood Pit and was residing with a Mr John Smith, miner, Meikle Earnock.  Can anyone tell me where he went or what he did?

Who were his parents and what was his mother's maiden name?

His parents were Patrick Devlin & Susan Ross and he appears with them on the 1881 & 1891 census, but disappears after the death of his mother in January 1892.

Truthfully, I have no idea where to start - I have had a look at various sites but found them all too complicated!
