Cheeseman/Jones (Richard Joshua) born 1860 Poplar
« on: Wednesday 31 August 11 09:31 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone.  I am starting to trace my paternal family tree and am looking for the mother of my Great Great Grandfather who I believe is Susannah Cheeseman.  Richard was born in Poplar in approx 1860 and I was always told that he was one of about 18 children but cannot find a Richard Jones with a mother called Susannah on the 1861 or 1871 census in the Poplar area.  Richard later moved to Greenwich/Lewisham having married Charlotte Rumble in 1884 in Cheam.
Look forward to hearing from anyone

Many thanks Bearkat - that allows me to move forward.  I also found a post by a Ermingtrude that also had/needed info on Susannah and this was really useful.

What a great site!

I believe Richard Joshua Jones was my great grandfather. I have recently started to research my family history and stumbled across this post when entered a google search. I would be interested to know how far you were able to go back. I had just found a marriage index for William Jones and Susannah Jane Cheeseman. 1845. I presume that to go back further you would have to trace parish records. I am hoping that you still use this website. Fingers crossed. I would be happy to exchange details of my research to date.
