John Beeson of Rearsby
« on: Thursday 05 May 05 00:37 BST (UK) »
I have a little mystery on hand.  I know that John Beeson who married Barbara Thompson is the father of my gtgtgtgrandmother, Anne Beeson born in 1808 in Rearsby.  The problem is that there are two John Beesons born in Rearsby in the 1870s and only one can be my ancestor.  One, born in 1770, is the son of Valentine and Rebecca Beeson and interestingly John and Barbara's children have the same names as Valentine and Rebecca's. Also,  a John Beeson was born in 1773 and had 3 children.  Does anyone know how I might sort this out short of trying to find a marriage certificate for John and Barbara?  ANy ideas?

Thanks so much.  Since John Beeson was not alive in 1841 when Barbara is recorded to have been a widow and looking after my gtgtgtgrandmother Jane,  I believe that my John must have been born in 1870 to Valentine and Rebecca.  This is a very big breakthrough as I can now connect him to the Valentine Beeson family and trace them back to the 1600s.  Yippee!  Thanks so much!

I administer the Beeson/Beason Surname project at FTDNA. We focus on Y-chromosome analysis; the Beeson line that descends from Edward Beeson (1652) is I-M253 > Z382+. I am seeking direct male line descendants (i.e. father-to-son, father-to-son, etc.) of Valentine Beeson (1665) to see if we could confirm or deny a familial relation. Of the 9 direct male descendants that have taken a Y-chromosome test, all 7 with genealogies that have been confirmed are through Edward and his son Richard Beeson (through 3 of Richard's sons: Richard Jr, Benjamin Sr and William). If you are, or know of, a direct male descendant of Valentine, please, take a yDNA test with FTDNA and join the surname project here: https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/beeson-beason-surname-project/about
