A BDM or BMD index of the Wellington, New Zealand newspaper notices for births (registration required), deaths, marriages, anniversaries, and in memoriam published daily since 1999, for the purposes of genealogy and family research.
It now includes Wanganui and Taranaki newspapers and some school magazines & shipping.
Search Otago notices at www.odt.co.nz
Search Auckland notices at www.nzherald.co.nz - up to 14 days prior to today.
Go to www.taranakiwiki.com for all things about Taranaki.
Search Palmerston North and Manawatu notices at Palmerston North Library

Auckland Central Library Research Centre has the Order Books for C Little & Sons Ltd (Funeral Directors) 1901 to 1936. The cards are viewable in the Research Room. Once you have the volume no and page no, go across to the special collections area and they will get the book. Useful information about DOD, Date of funeral, where buried, who the account went to, age at death, children, spouse, last residential address, where died, cost of the service etc

This link includes the names of people who were goldminers in the Thames region of New Zealand in 1868.
Surnames can be searched easy to use and very informative.

Give it a try you may be suprised.

Best wishes Teresa

Yes I agree about the shocking cost... few year ago I requested the military file of 2 rellies from WW1 and Archives charge me only 15$ for both files (very consistant) photocopied and asked to pay only after I received it... Now the cost jump up to 25$ per surname search.. that's crazy....

Good initiative of you...

Hello and welcome to New Zealand's Roll of Honour. My name is Leigh, I am the webmaster. Due to the exorbitant cost put on by the New Zealand Government, to obtain New Zealand military files I would like people who are willing to Adopt a Soldier, please choose one of the many that are already listed and just let me know which one it is by emailing me here please don't do ones that are already completed, those that are completed include when and where born and next of kin.
