hi Midase,

Done that & I've now realised that my earlier problem seems to have affected the inbuilt Web Cam display - it now appears dark.

I think I'll have to do a System restore after all.

I only started installing the programmes yesterday afternoon and I'm worried sick that the Sustem restore process might cause an even bigger mess.

I'm pretty despondent at the moment.

System restore is not going to hurt. You will be just back to where you started. You will just have to reinstall your programs but just check that they are compatible as I posted earlier.

Hi Midase, Restore done and original problem now solved.

I have Microsoft Word 2007 which I need to install tomorrow but I'm pretty sure it's compatible with Windows 7- 64 bit.

Microsoft Word was preinstalled when I bought this PC last Saturday but i need to buy a product key to get the full version so I'm sticking with Word 2007 - just praying nothing goes wrong with the installation !!

I noticed that when I was installing different programmes, I was asked for permission by Windows for the programme to make changes and I always click 'Yes' as I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT IF i clicked'NO' then the programme would not install -

 is that correct?

I really appreciate your help,

Thanks

Barbara.

Yes that is correct. Glad that you have got it sorted out - a bit of a learning curve for you!

Office 2007 is compatible with Windows 7 64 bit.

So when installing programmes it means that requests for changes to be made must always be allowed, at the risk of the installation causing problems?

Yes, you have two choices - to install or not to install. Just make sure that the program is compatible.

Hi again Midase,

I forgot to ask you yesterday but should I uninstall the trial version of Microsoft Office 2010 (pre-installed in Store) before I install my Microsoft Office 2007?

Or does it just load over the trial 2010 version? :-\

Can't bear the thought of any more problems.
