With a birth circa 1810 he could be Alexander's grandfather. Leuchars is the right area. Difficult to say with Robertson such a common surname.

Alexander Robertson 1863 born in Leuchars is my last solid connection.
The oddly conflicting marriage and death record info on who his parents were was a bit of a brick wall.
Following the death info leads me to his mother as a Stewart Taylor born 1845 Leuchars.
If i accept that it leaves his father as a mystery.

Actually the Alexander Robertson that Sancti has pointed out could be his father rather than grandfather. Died 1882 certainly fits in with the father's deceased status on Alexander's Nov 1884 marriage record.

Hi I am John Robertson son of James Robertson who is a son of Alexander.
I am 84 and the eldest son of James and his wife Grace.
In your post you state James brother Dave came to Australia and married ,this is not correct Dave never married nor did he join the Australian defence forces. He and James ran a blacksmith shop in a small country town of Grass Valley in Western Australia.
I would dearly love to get some more background of Alexander and his wife Mary Keir along with details of my fathers siblings who remained in Scotland
I would be happy to share with you details of our family here in Western Australia

Hi John,

It's really nice to hear from you.  My great grandfather was one of James brother's - John Keir Robertson.  His daughter Alice Robertson was my granny and she used to talk fondly of all the family including Dave and Jim.  I would love to share the information i have with you on our family.

This rootschat website needs people to make 3 posts before i can send you a message and then be able to exchange emails.

David it is great to hear back from you I and my sister Marjorie have been keen to find out more about our fathers family and his background prior to him migrating to Western Australia.
Like you we can share details of our family with you.
It would appear that the boys of the family all used the middle name of Kier as our father always used it.
We are keen to know where the family originated from we were told by our father that he came from Perth but what part we have no idea.
Keep in touch
John R

Hi John,

Alexander Taylor Robertson was born in 1863 at Leuchars, Fife and Mary Kennedy Keir was born 1861 at Longforgan.  They married in 1884 at Ruthven, Forfarshire.  All their children were born in Perthshire. Alex moved around Perthshire for work as a Shepherd, Farm Servant, Cattleman, Ploughman.
John was born in 1895 at Kildinny, Forteviot and Jim was born in 1903 at Balbrogie, Coupar Angus.
The Robertson family eventually settled at Alexandra Cottage at Wolfhill.

I have made a family tree on the Ancestry website so i can invite you to view it once i have your email address.
