Wow, Mick, that's fantastic!
That's more information in two days than I have got in fifty years! It has my grandmother, great aunts and uncle on the censuses. Thank you so very much. If you can be bothered to send any more, that would be incredible.
Thank you again

Sincere Regards

Alastair

according to the 1901 census where emma is widowed
and the 1891 where john price is with emma
he must have died between 1894 when his last child john was born and 1901
this is the only one i can see that in anyway fits
death index
name; john price
y.o.r. 1899
qtr;apr/may/jun
dist; lewes,sussex
vol;2b
page; 110
age at death; 41
est birth year; 1858
you would obviously need the death cert to verify if this is your john price
hopefully the person who regd the death was emma price

If John was born 25 Dec 1858, he could fit with the 2 year old John born in Chelsea in the 1861 census, at 6 Harper Place, Westminster. No father at home but his mother is Mary, a carpenter's wife age 39 born Liverpool - RG9/51/55/36

Ian C
i think this is a better bet for john
1871
RG10/
john price age 60. b. ivinghoe/bucks. occ. land and house proprietor. head
caroline age 39. b. keniven/cornwall. wife
john age 12. b. westbourne st./london. son(westbourne street is in kensington reg dist not far from chelsea)
linda.m. age 11. b. southwark. daughter
annie.f. age 7. b. high wycombe/bucks. daughter
amelia age 5. b. ditto. daughter
ann martin age 68. b. st.mawgan/cornwall. mother(think this must be carolines mother)(farmers widow)
maria ward age 21. b. eastbourne. occ. general servant
living at;54,pevensey road,eastbourne/sussex

obviously you would need john/emma's marriage cert to verify if this is the right john price
i do not think it is worth going any further back until we know which if either of the john price's is yours .i.e. this one or the one

Thankyou Omega 1, that looks highly likely. The dates match exactly.

Don't think the John Price you have is the right one, Wozzle & Eyesee, John was never a Land & House proprietor, he was a house painter. The 1891 Census Wozzle posted is definitely him - it has my Grandmother, Florence and my Great-Aunts Alice, May & Edith. No question it's the right John on that Census.
To go further back would mean getting 1871 Census for Chelsea, I imagine.

Many thanks to you all

Regards

Alastair

So sorry Wozzle & Eyesee - me jumping to conclusions.
Yes, could well be John's father and marriage of same. I thank you both and apologise for doubting you.
There are links here with my great aunts, albeit tenuous. There was a chap surname Martin who more or less brough up my father when my grandmother Florence's marriage ended in divorce. Several generations away, though.

Thank you both so much

Alastair
