Finding a birth
« on: Thursday 08 September 11 15:50 BST (UK) »
I have found my grandads marriage but I cannot find his birth anywhere.

His name is Joseph E C Downs he married in 1934 to Gladys Preston in Nuneaton.

I have been told he was born around 1910.

In the 1901 census I have found a Joseph E Downs B1900 in Nuneaton. Do you think this is the same man as the dates dont add up.

Thanks Ali  :)

The free index to the 1911 census is showing a Herbert Charles Downs, born 1910, living in Brentford  ???  ??? Perhaps the first christian name wasn't used?

I suggest you should get the marriage certificate first, then you can check against the 1911 census.
