Queen Victoria in censuses
« on: Saturday 10 September 11 22:10 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know how I could find Queen Victoria and her household in any censuses?
After some help, I have found her at Windsor Castle in 1881,   (1325 / 98 / 1) transcribed as "Queen The".   You can see we need to be imaginative here!!
I suppose she could have been anywhere on census day but here's hoping that someone may know.

NC.

Hi  :)

Just go into search all census .... type in Queen in first name and Victoria in surname...you'll find her there lol

Annie
The surnames, which I am interested in are; Maternal side: Ryan, Kevin, Grant, Grady, Gleeson, Walsh, Dwyer, Paternal side: O' Dwyer, Woodlock, Rochford & Britton - all in Tipperary; and Kelly and Hoynes in Laois.

Ryan, Campbell, Luttrell, Grant, Grahame, Bainbridge and Brown in Queensland, Australia

Tighe in Victoria, Australia.

Grant in Philadelphia, Sullivan and Penny in New York; and Britton in Connecticut

If what Wiggy has asked is relevant - you might find this of interest :

From www.royal.gov.uk:

My relative worked in the Royal Household. Do you have details about them?
The Royal Archives has references to people employed in the Royal Household from the 18th century, and indexes to names of people employed from 1660 onwards. Please put your enquiry in writing, including as much detail as possible, and send it to: The Royal Archives, Windsor Castle, Windsor, Berkshire SL4 1NJ. For earlier periods, contact the National Archives at Ruskin Avenue, Kew, Richmond, Surrey TW9 4DU.

Thank you everyone for your valuable help.   It is part of this term's History studies of the Victorian era for a class of ages 10 and 11.  Whilst studying various aspects of the census I thought it would be interesting to show The Queen herself.

I'm not sure whether this will work - but if look to the right of this link, Ancestry should have an example of Queen Victoria in 1841 :
