Not on Passenger List???

My Great Great Grandfather, Michel Bartholomey, his wife Frances and daughter Helene (aged 6) arrived in New York aboard the SS Gallia on October 5th, 1880.
Michel's other daughter, Rose Tatiana (then aged 3) isn't mentioned on the list, which gives rise to a couple of questions: Are passenger lists complete, i.e. would they have included all infants? Does this mean that Rose DIDN'T go to America with the rest of her family? Your insight would be most helpful.

Passenger lists certainly arent accurate

My grandmother, Alice Dorothy age 6 months is listed as "George" when she went out to China with her mother to join her father in 1891

She was the eldest child, born a few months after the wedding and so no chance of having been confused with another child in the family

It looks like Rose married Redmond Barton Cafferata in Dec Qtr 1901 in Kensington Reg Dist (London) Vol 1a Page 424

New York passenger list has the following arrival

1st Oct 1938 Europa
Rose Tatiana Cafferata 60 yr 9 mths widow
Sonia Helene Cafferata 30 yr 8 mths single

It looks like Rose Tatiana Cafferara date of birth 7th Dec 1877 died  June Qtr 1969 Nottingham Reg Dist Vol 3c Page 874

It might be worth checking the 1881 England census to see if she is on it

As far as I can see she's not on the 1881 census, but as Ancestry has her transcribed as "Rola Bartholoma" in the 1891 census, anything's possible!

I already have the rest of the information you've found, but thanks for your efforts anyway.

Trouble is that on some lists the full name is not recorded.You may see female plus a surname or unknown plus surname.I think this is why I can't find my great aunt.Lots of possibles but none that I can be sure of.
