Help with my internet please..................

 I am also confused with this computer.   Its telling me to turn the defender on.  I have AVG 2011 which is not out of date, and the site tells me I am protected.  The code 80072F8F tells me the date and time on my computer may not match the computer time hence the machine cannot do any updates.  I have a icon saying security alerts that my AVG is out of date which is not.  My 2 e-mail sites say the certificate is not valid so although I can proceed I'm nervous about doing so.  I've gone into systems restore and gone back to 5th Sept as the computer man said the updates were getting stuck but made no different.  I have gone into the sites quoted and I find it difficult to understand.

In the link given by Ray above, did you try the second option of synchronising with an internet clock?

Malky,  I did and all I got is " YOU CANNOT INSTALL UPDATES"

Not sure what you mean, it did not ask me to sign anywhere

Click on "Start", then "Control Panel" then "User Accounts and Family Safety" (That it is what it is in Windows 7, it may be slightly different in Vista) then "User accounts" and your login should be showing. My one states, Malky, Administrator, Password Protected. Does your's say "Administrator"?

checking internet time which says next synchronization  23/09/2000 at 06.48.

Could that be the problem?
