Mi at Lilliesleaf. William Davidson.
« on: Wednesday 14 September 11 08:47 BST (UK) »
I have an Mi in Lilliesleaf Churchyard which gives the death of William Davidson  24.10.1849 - aged 64.  I would like his death certificate but cannot trace any entry for 1849 in scotlands people.
Has anyone the burial entries for Lilliesleaf please, who could check to see if William was actually buried there?

William’s wife Agnes’ (nee Mien) life is marked on the Mi although I believe she died at Alloa.
Thank you for any help or advice.

Borders Family History Society are currently recording Lilliesleaf - nearly all recorded now but we still have a fair bit to check.  There is a lair plan, which is held at the Scottish Borders Archive, dated 1858 which has William Davidson as the holder of lair 88, which matches the location of the stone.

If anyone can confirm the burial, it would be Bereavement Services at Scottish Borders Council although they may not have accurate information on the older burials.  The other option is to check the newspapers which may give details of the funeral and place of burial - maybe the Kelso Chronicle. Newspapers are on microfilm at the Archive as well.  As he was a farmer, there may be an obituary.

hi  :)

there will be no death certificate for william in 1849 as official records only start
from 1855
before that the old parish records(OPR's) for deaths leave a lot to be desired

http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/content/help/index.aspx?r=554&1355

SP has agnes davidson(other surname mein) death 1882 alloa clackmannan
born c1796
