E.g - have you found the marriage? Do you have the cert ? That will give you names of their fathers.
HAve you found John on the 1901 /1911 censuses?

I see that John and Ethel were married in 1910 Middlesbro registration district, do you have the certificate if so who is Johns father?

Are you saying your John was born in Sheffield and moved to Middlesbrough?  The two are completely separate towns.  One in the West Riding of Yorkshire and one in the North Riding.
If you can give us more information that would help and I can then move the query to the right Yorkshire board.
Looking at freebmd.org.uk the children all appear to be registered in Middlesbrough.  Some may still be living so do be aware that we do not allow any details of living people to be published on the boards.

Hi All,

I am still finding my way around site, I dont have John Walkers Marriage certificate.

What i do know is

John Walker born 29 Augst 1886 Sheffield, Married Ethel Muard Wicks who was from Sunderland.


both moved to Middlesborough probably at young age with their families.

John died around 1973  Middlesborough

Ethel Muard around 1975 Middlesborough

All children that are listed are now dead.

Census 1901 - 1911 have not found him or her

How do you know John was born in Sheffield?    Do you have him in an earlier census?   Or maybe his birth certificate as you know the exact date?   Who were his parents if so?  I am afraid that otherwise with such a common name you will probably have to get the marriage certificate to be sure you are on the right line.   I will move this to the N Yorks board as someone may be able to tell us exactly where the marriage took place.
Were any of the children born before the 1911 census?    It might be easier for you to search for one of them.  There are tips to search the free index on

Hi All, Thanks for the help.

This was the only info i got from my mother ,that John & Ethel birth dates & place of birth was written in the Family Bible. she wrote the details down.

just to put you in the picture my mother was one of 11 children. of John & Ethel Walker

having been the second from youngest she knows little about her Father or Mother, all other sibling are dead expect for her youngest brother.
