DjVU Viewer - Which download is safe to choose?

I think No  1. Lizardtech Official DjVu Browser Plug-in (Free - Win/Mac) - a browser plugin is the one I had on my Windows XP so I'll probably go for that.

Any site will do for downloading, so just pick the first one, CNET.

Yes, that's right. Not everybody needs some of the more exotic formats, so they are put in the optional "plug-in". As the name implies, you "plug" it "in" to your existing program.

The plug in is for your browser, so you can see DjVU images on websites.

Not 100% accurate:  plug-ins can be written for any program, not just a browser. 

The plug-in I mentioned is for the program IrfanView, but having said that, if you enter djvu plugin firefox in your search engine you can also find a browser plug-in, which gives you what Nick is saying.

I have now downloaded DjVU and all seems fine - I can now view the documents o.k.

I'm not even sure I'm on the right board for this as it's not an area I use very often. 

Even so, I'm hoping some kind person will help me out!

I've always saved census images both from the 1911 site and from FindMyPast, the improved them and removed the black border to save ink and enlarge them.

Now I'm finding I can't open them from my computer.  It's the type of file.  Other file types open okay.  I've done this loads of times before.

I can get the ones from the 1911 site again, but the same thing happens to the new copies.

The FindMyPast ones are already on the computer and flashdrives.

One thing I'm wondering is whether I had a separate viewer saved on my main computer which I don't have on here.  (I'm away from time for a long stretch.  My main computer was awaiting attention and I just got a netbook).

If you think that's the case, would anyone know where I can get the viewer?  I can'y see a button on the 1911 site.

After a bit of discussion and a bit of a play with this, I've realised that this is a djvu file.  I think they're usually from the censuses.
