Please note that we are dedicated to helping descendants/rellies of home children....so I am still plugging away...
It was, however, rootschat who found and corrected your information on Robert, so please give credit where credit is due...

Well you'll want to keep an eye on this one, adopted by the Browns in Frontenac...he has information all over the place, not unusual for a home child...especially if there was trauma, or the adoptive parents don't know when things really happened... http://www.automatedgenealogy.com/census11/SplitView.jsp?id=44996

I'll look again at the 1901 for something I may have missed last week...

Yes!!  Just needed to look for Peter Brown and there he is as Jaines and messed up transcription order...!!

Because they were a family to him, am adding other information...plus may find him as a witness, or?
The couple who adopted James appear to be Peter John Brown and Annie Dee
James Daniel Brown ( who was born Daniel James)...James Audley's adopted brother was married 1923 Wolfe Island ...Thomas was wittness.

Must be a mistake on their part as that really mixed up version was info from the 1911...( check the earlier posting on previous page) Can you add the marriage information for the other brother Thomas Dee Brown?

Ooops, just noticed that was the 1911 census I was quoting about. I will amend my post in a minute or 2.

I will look into the marriage.

Could his name be James Joseph Audley and this his signup the last year of the war in Montreal Quebec for ww1?
http://data2.archives.ca/cef/well1/224426a.gif
He was obviously confused as to his actual age, and so were the adoptive parents it seems...but it says July 1890...born England??
Polarbear!!!!...if he is married to Bertha as a Catholic I know you can find this!!!
It may have parents listed as what he can remember of the real parents, but he was only 7...He may also list Brown & Dee...   ;D I'm excited!

re: 81 Cazelais...major resident is Wm Ford or  Lawrence Merrigan... He isn't listed under normal near/ spellings, nor Bertha...

Have been looking but no luck so far.

Can't find a marriage for Thomas Brown either .. do you have any other clues?

Wow...I just found James Joseph Audley and Berth buried right here in Winnipeg with others listed as well

;D   newspapers may have more about the man to see if he is our fellow?

There is an obituary for James in the Winnipeg Free Press but it doesn't list parents names or any siblings - just Bertha and their children.

Great finds on the census, JJ.

Edited to add: I also found Bertha's obituary and she had a brother named Art Bromley. I found a passenger list for a Bromley family which had children named Bertha and Arthur dated 1907. They were destined for Montreal. Hopefully that will help with finding a marriage.
