2 servants to serve 1 agricultural lab
« on: Thursday 22 September 11 23:52 BST (UK) »
Is it usual to have 2 servants for an agricultural lab.

I have tried to look where john Hilditch 1820/21 was born visiting the Cheshire record office to trace the relevant parish records in Elton green and adjoining parishes but no joy. Any suggestions? the registration district of Great Broughton!   1841 census: HO107/98/12, Folio: 3, Page: 28 Cheshire, Township of Elton Elton Green John Hilditch, 20, Ag Lab

Kind regards
Andras

They appear to be living in the same house as Robert Hayes, a butcher who has a large family. I would think they were his servants rather than John Hilditch's. Each house is separated by 2 slashes. There was probably separate living quarters for the servants, so a separate schedule filled in. With 8 children Robert would need the servants!
