By the Way, Arliene,

A big belated WELCOME to RChat.  We are all a friendly lot, and hope you will enjoy our efforts to help you.

Not to worry, Merlin,  TODAY, I have learned there's a place named Drayton in Queensland  ;D, near to Toowoomba. I think my confusion is caused by my overlooking that Queensland was still part of NSW in 1855, as it was not hived off until 1859 into its own separate colony.

Cheers,  JM

Hi there,

Further to Sue's replies #1  & #2...  :)

There is a submitted public tree on a commercial website.  That tree includes an uploaded d.c. for James Milkins, son of Edward Milkins and Margaret Hagon.   It does not indicate if Edward or Margaret were then deceased.

James MILKINS, a labourer aged 63 years, d o d 26th June 1915, at Allora.   The informant was C Burge, son in law, Allora.  The Presbyterian burial was 27th June 1915, at Allora Cemetery.  He had been ill for 18 months. (Hemiplegia, Cardiac failure, Syncope)

James had been born in Drayton QUEENSLAND.  He was married at Goomburra, near Allora Qld when 21 years of age, to Elizabeth Jane Anderson.  His then living children were Jane, 38;  Mary Ann, 36; Edward Robert,  34;  Margaret Frances, 32; William James, 30; Samuel Daniel, 28; Henry George Blanchfield, 26; Ethel 24; Susie, 21; Isabel, 18.  There was a deceased female.

The death was registered at Warwick,  ref    3918    1397.

To my way of thinking, this is all pointing to Drayton, Queensland, rather than the one in NSW near Mudgee.

Perhaps James Milkins marriage cert will give an indication if his parents were living when he married?

Cheers,  JM

The Marriage record does appear in QLD index but has a notation of MA:

MILKINS Edward m. HAGEN Margaret 6/10/1855 #MA0285

MA on the index means information for an early marriage record rather than the actual registration.
