Hi Monica,it relates to his father Henry who on the 1851 census is transcribed as 'advocate not practicing'.Him his wife,Alex and two other sons David and Henry are lodgers at Auchinearn House,Cadder which appears to be the home of John Leslie and family.

Likely that it is as simple as it has written up - i.e., his father Henry is an Advocate, who was not at that time in practice?

My links to the Beveridge name are tenuous Monica,however I have been researching the family due to a photo I own.I thoght perhaps if a direct descendent could be traced they may like to see one of their ancestors.Here she is,the youngest of Alexander and Elizabeth's children,Marianne Hazel Beveridge .

I am seeing nothing on possible descendants though which is a pity 

From A W Beveridge's death announcement in the Scotsman in April 1916, 6 living children showed at that time (1916), three boys and three girls (unnamed).

I thought there could be another,possibly Frances,which would make Marianne next youngest.Marianne it seems appears on passenger lists to and from Canada but I haven't been able to access them.

You are right though Monica,this was a girl on a photo and to round her family out is fantastic.

Scrub the Frances Monica,wrong family.Marianne was the youngest,the other child was the eldest Henry.Erskine was born in England,in 1901 he is an artist in Kelvin,Glasgow.

Amazing where it can take you Monica.I am over in Fife at the moment (online not reality)Where another Erskine Beveridge is getting married in 1908.This one is older however 56,son of another Erskine,landed proprieters and linen manufacturers.I wouldn't mind betting they are all of the same family.Now off to look at your link.

Excellent link Monica,the Erskine getting married is Elizabeth's brother.Her son Erskine named after her father and Henry after Alexanders.

I think it's safe to say my Beveridge link will not be these
