Rev. Llewellyn Lloyd Thomas
« on: Saturday 08 October 11 14:28 BST (UK) »
Rev. Thomas 1824 - 1875  born Pencarreg , son of John Thomas surgeon Aberduar, was vicar of Newport, Pembrokeshire for 51 years.I'm trying to
help a descendant find the Rev Llewellyn Lloyd Thomas  burial place. He is not buried at St. Mary's Newport and a visit to St Patrick's Pencarreg did not reveal any Thomas gravestones.
His 1st wife was Louisa Charlotta dau. of Col. Owen Lloyd Cardigan with whom he had 14 children 2ndly Eliza Dickinson from London- there were 10 children
from this marriage.
Has anyone come across this name when  checking M.I. for the area around Pencarreg?

His age at death does not support an 1824 birthyear

In 1871 he was 72yrs old born Llanybyther and living with his daughter & son in law Henry & Elizabeth Dorothy Davies in Llangathen

That was in the Llandilofawr RD not the Cardigan RD so it looks as though he went to live somewhere else between 1871 and his death

Do you have his death cert showing exactly where he died

Sorry my error. He was born 1799. Appointed to Capel Cynon Nov. 3 1822;Newport Pembs 1824.
No Idon't have a death certificate but the National Probate Calendar states that he died at Newport Rectory.

Yes I have seen the account but  thank you anyway Morgan. He was rector of St Mary's Newport and Meline. The East window in St Mary's commemorates the  faithful service of 2 rectors Ll. Ll. Thomas 1824 - 1875 and Evan Jones for 27 years .
The Welsh Biography on line has information about Ll.. Ll. Thomas's ancestor  Timothy Thomas Pencarreg a Baptist minister and author born Caeo and buried at the Parish Church Pencarreg.

Hi. I can confirm that Rev Thomas is indeed buried at St Patrick's Pencarreg. We visited the church last year and found his grave. He is buried with his first wife Louisa Charlotta and his daughter Caroline Joan and we were able to take photographs of their grave.

Photos of the grave are attached. If anybody happens to be near St. Patrick's Church in Pencarreg and can get some larger images, I would be most grateful.
Thanks
