Searching for Moseley Family in Cheshire
« on: Wednesday 12 October 11 07:51 BST (UK) »
I am trying to trace the Moseley family in Cheshire.

Thanks to Rootschatters, I have got some more information, but am trying to tie up some interesting holes.

I start with Samuel Moseley bn 1810 at Church Minshull, with parents William and Elizabeth, as per the Bishops Transcripts

I have 1851 census for William, aged 44 in Chester, as a miller. This makes his birth as 1809, so not likely to be the father :P

I have 1841 census for William aged 70, in Haslington, also as a miller. This makes his birth about 1771, about 40 when Samuel is born. HO107/116/29/8/11
This has William, Elizabeth, Edward, 20 son, Elizabeth, 20 dau, Robert, 8 son?

I have William marrying Elizabeth Hassell in 1800 at Warmington.

I have a couple of transcripts for William being christened at Poynton 12 Dec 1779 to Thomas & Betty, AND at Acton 8 April 1770 to Robert and Ann. Umm

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find out which is the correct information to follow the Moseley family further back.

Hi there down under lol

I had a look for you and think that the 1841 William aged 44 is
the following

William Moseley christened in Minshull on 31st August 1806
parents William and Elizabeth
Therefore, Brother of Samuel not his Father.

1851 William you mention is William Moseley the Father born
in 1771 ish.  I think his parents were the second couple you
mention who were Robert and Ann

William Moseley christened on 8th April 1770 at Acton
nr Nantwich to parents Robert and Ann.
Robert and Ann married on 27th April 1768, Anns name
was Manley before she married, They are living at Acton.

I noticed a few of William and Elizabeths children have gaps
in their years of birth so maybe a few of  the children died inbetween.

William 1806, Robert 1808, Samuel 1810, George 1813, Edwdard 1819,
Mary 1820, Elizabeth 1821

Hope this helps you go backwards through the generations

regards Sandymc

p.s.
In the 1851 census William senior is living in Bartholomy which is in
the registration district of Nantwich.
Midgley, Fowler, Chadwick, Kilvington, Routledge, Hewitt, Stevenson, Ward, Waite, Binks , Buck, Pearson,  Stanley, Firth, Child, Hobson, Rogers, all Leeds and Yorkshire for centuaries except the Routledges from Wigton, Cumbria and Middlesbrough. Related to McAllisters of Wilsontown
