ancestry slow?
« on: Thursday 13 October 11 12:22 BST (UK) »
Until 2 or 3 days ago all was fine, but is anyone else now finding the ancestry website desperately slow to load? As for the images, well I just take a cue from them and give up mid-load. Am running Windows 7 64-bit + IE9 (using 32-bit), and have compatibility view enabled for ancestry. I can watch TV online without problem and other websites load promptly enough so i don't think it's my pc or internet connection.

I don't normally do Ancestry, but as will be seen from other threads I have had similar problems recently, and the specifications of my computer are very similar to yours so, I wonder?

Hi Redroger,
Do you also perhaps have Trusteer Rapport on your computer? I've just found various banking sites also unusually slow to load...

No. I don't do online banking in any form as I am not convinced it is secure.

I'm currently accessing Ancestry (Library Edition), and I'm not having any problems.

You may have seen another thread I was interupted in mid sentence on this site by MS installing its updates. Impatient b****rs, in future they will have to wait my pleasure!

Hi Coombs, Did ancestry remain slow to the point of exasperation?
Though I must say I'm now suspecting a more pervasive problem afflicts my pc. Have uninstalled Rapport, but that made no difference. IE9 is now in my sights, though support.microsoft's FixIt found nothing particularly wrong. If not that, then maybe contact my ISP though the up/download data looks pretty stable from what i can see. Oh dear. 'puters are wonderful when they work, but a nightmare when they get sick.
Good luck with future updates RedRoger.
