Lookup any Census before 1881 Edwards in Horsham
« on: Saturday 07 May 05 13:45 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Would anybody be good enough to look for my Edwards for me?  Alfred born c 1852 (parents possibly James Edwards and Mary possibly Pickford).  Married Selina Wright in 1875 in Horsham.

On 1881 census he is married with his own family living 37 Brighton Road, horsham, Sussex, his occupation is given as "carter".

Would love to have him as a child living with paretns and siblings.

Hi Siouxzie,
There is this marriage on the Sussex Marriage Index,

Ifield, West Sussex,  Date:  1 Mar 1837:
 James EDWARDS, bach
Mary Ann PICKFORD, sp botp (B)

I would think that your Alfred c. 1852 was one of the youngest of the bunch.  Hope you find them on the census!

In 1871 Alfred did not show up under Edwards but there is an Alfred Edward b 1851 in Woolwich - a soldier in barracks.
Possible??

Thanks for that guys,
I had thought James and Mary were his parents and you have confirmed that for me.  Not sure about you soldier Andrea, as I am pretty sure Alfred was born Horsham, but will look further into that.

I should have made it clear that the soldier was born Horsham.   He was in Woolwich for the census.
