The picture is starting to fall into place: Henry Hine firstly married Hannah Davey Strachley or Stretchley in Exeter in 1817 and they had several children. In the 1841 (thanks Kris), I suspect he was a widower. He married Agnes Algar in 1843, probably in Littleham and they went on to have at least 3 children. Any leads on Agnes, born abt 1805 in Otterton??
All the Hines born around the 1820s were offspring of the first marriage, then Edwin, Mark and Emily, born between 1844 and 1850. There's also an Emma -ene Hine who died in 1851. Who is this?

Thanks, Kris
I assume that was the 1841 from the format?
I'd love to find out where the name Meneen came from, but all I can find is a boat from about 1897, so who or what was it named after? It is an Arabic word- anyone know its literal meaning?

Hi, just found this forum.  I realise the last posts on this thread were a few years ago, but thought I'd mention that Edwin Hine was also my great grandfather.  My grandfather was William Henry Hine, stonemason in Exmouth.

The Henry Hines who married Hannah Davey Stratchley in Exeter in 1817 is shown as a stonemason so good chance this is your ancestor.  I have a few ancestral lines from Littleham and some of them married in Exeter so its not uncommon.  The image of the marriage is on FindMyPast.  The Davey in her name should help you to trace her back.
