This link
http://ancestorsonboard.wordpress.com/2007/08/01/moreton-bay-photo-1/

says it was 'the first of the Australian Commonwealth Government Line Ships"
so you just might find a crew list at National Archives Australia, but probably not online.
And I'd try NAA in Sydney and Melbourne first - they don't all hold everything the same.

However, on this link:
http://www.flotilla-australia.com/2acl.htm#moreton-bay-acl
it says the ship was sold to Aberdeen-White Star Line and then in 1933 to Aberdeen & Commonwealth Line. Scrapped 1957 at Barrow.  Some good pics.

So it looks more like you need to contact Aberdeen & Commonwealth Line.
No, can't do that.  On the Ships List,
http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/lines/aberdeen.html
it says Shaw Savill & Albion took over Aberdeen & Commonwealth Line and was itself taken over by Furness Withy & Co. ....  1957 their ships were scrapped and the company disappeared.  It's not clear whether they mean just the Aberdeen & Commonwealth company or the Furness Withy & Co one.
No, further page on ShipsList says FW & Co. still operational in 1999, at least.

Best of luck!

The crew agreements,1950, for MORETON BAY official number 130169 are in the British National archive at Kew, London.
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/displaycataloguedetails.asp?CATID=8092458&CATLN=6&Highlight=%2C130169&accessmethod=0&Summary=True
You cannot view this record online. You would need to go to the Archive yourself or get someone to do it for you.
For an example of what type of information is contained in a crew agreement see post 2 here

Hi TUI8  :)

You could try http://www.shipsnostalgia.com - they have loads of expert knowledge, including a Shaw Savill forum.

Good luck!

My father, John Bowden, was a young Able Seaman on the Moreton Bay sailing between Southampton and Australia in 1950.  He still has in his possession a ship in a bottle representing the Moreton Bay that he received from one of the crew members, who made it during the long voyage.

My father is now almost 90 years old but still relates tales of his travels on that ship with fond memories.

My father Fred Bibby started as a deck steward in 1949 and was paid off in Fremantle in 1952 as a smoking room steward. I have all the crew lists for the time he served.
