The Grange, Minsterworth
« on: Thursday 20 October 11 22:10 BST (UK) »
My wife's aunt , Mary Vining, ran the Grange until her death in 1962 and it was then demolished. Does anyone have any photos or the exact location please? TIA Pete

A country house type hotel, from my wife's memories it sounds like the usual big Victorian mansion with a large conservatory. I've scoured old-map.com  from 1880s-1950's nothing shown

Suggest you contact
http://www.minsterworth.org/
There is an email there, and a book by a local historian who could probably pint you in the right direction.

Hi

When the Grange Hotel was knocked down in the late 1960s, the land was bought by neighbouring Duni Farm, situated on the A48 where the road runs close to the river Severn. The rear garden wall is still standing as are the scots pines.  In its day was quite an imposing Victorian building.  The land is now bounded by a conifer hedge to the roadside.

Hope this helps.

The Grange; i was brought up in Minsterorth and have an old newspaper photograph from the Citizen of The Grange being demolished. i remember it well next to Duni Farm. My father may well have done work at there, i could look up and see what sort of jobs he did. will try to remember anything else.
