Thanks for looking, this could be our Hopkins,
William is our line and I found his birth on IGI on LDS site.  Parents Jane and John Hopkins.  Maybe he was outside of Liverpool.

if this is the ages from 1851 census....there is this marriage ...may be a possible
17th february 1833 at St Nicholas church,Liverpool....John Hopkins to Jane Smith

christening 31st May 1835 of William Darlington Hopkins  at St Peters Liverpool  - parents John and Jane

on lan-opc it states that John Hopkins marriage to Jane Smith in 1833
John Hopkins  JOINER ....bachelor
Jane Smith spinster

so it looks even more likely now as he was a Joiner by trade
