ADAMS/McGEE Melbourne, Victoria early 1900s
« on: Wednesday 02 November 11 08:52 GMT (UK) »
I'm hoping to find descendants of John (Jack) Adams and May Maude McGee.
Jack was born 1889, his parents were John Adams and Mary Agnes Morgan.

May was born 1890 Hotham Vic. her parents were John McGee and Christina Petrie.

Jack and May were married 13 Feb 1915 at St Mary's Catholic Church, Ascot Vale, Victoria.  They lived for many years at Brunswick West.  Jack was a shearer.

They had 3 children.  Grace Francesco Adams b 1915.  Morgan John Adams b 1917 and Leonard Adams b 1919.

I can't find a death for May but she doesn't seem to appear in the electoral roll after 1963.
Jack lived with his son Morgan until his death in 1983, aged 83.  Morgan lived at Fraser St.  Airport West/Niddrie.  He died in 1996.

Morgan may have had 2 sons who could both still be living.  Not sure if I am allowed to put their names here though.  In the electoral rolls one was a welder the other a Butcher.

She doesn't appear after 1954 as the NSW electoral roll listing for a Maud May ADAMS in 1958, 1963 and 1980 is not her.  If you check you will see the name in NSW is Maud [no 'e'] May ADAMS, occupation, machinist and is living with a William George ADAMS.

Perhaps she was visiting her daughter?

Thanks Cando.  I had found May still living with husband John in the Vic electoral roll.  I hadn't been looking in NSW at all until Merlin found that death.

I had thought the Geoffrey Taylor/Grace Adams marriage may be her but hadn't found further on them.  Thanks heaps for your great find.

Just need to get it all sorted in my brain now  ;)

I think Warren may have to make two more posts before he can reply to you pm. Perhaps just say a couple of things to you on here.

Thanks Jennaya I remembered there was something about new members and pms so I wasn't sure if I could even send Warren one.  It worked so I gave my email address in the PM and we've made contact.
