James Robert Alwin VIGAR
« on: Friday 04 November 11 11:37 GMT (UK) »
I believe the above emigrated to Canada (Quebec I think) arriving on the 8th May 1912. He was not with his mother and sister when they arrived back in England on the 6th November 1912 and the beliefis that he died in Canada. Can anyone point me in the right direction for death records?
Thanks

Hi

To clarify - this is the James R A VIGAR whose birth was registered 1911, Eton, Bucks

The passenger manifest has a James VIGAR 6mth old, landing Quebec 1912.
His mother, Mary age 20 is noted on the manifest as going, with her children (dau Doris is 2+half) , to join her husband in Winnipeg, Manitoba on a permanent basis.

Did Mary return to England permanently? And her husband to?

Cheers

Yes this is the one. As far as I know mother and Doris returned to England in November 1912 (on the Royal Edward)and the father, Robert Averille Vigar returned (don't know when) and they had another child in Oct 1913. The father fought in the War and applied to be repatriated to Canada after the War ended but never returned.

Manitoba Vital Statistics have the death of a James Vigar 8 months old 17 July 1912 at Winnipeg.
For more details you would have to order the certificate.
