Bank house featured in a series on Lancashire ghosts in the 1980's, and in a book Lancashire ghosts and legends. Alot of the facts were wrong though. For example the originally owner did not own a mill.

Ordnance Survey map of Haslingden, published mid-1840s is among National Library of Scotland online collection. There are also later maps. They can be compared side-by-side.

I think it was my great great grandfather, Ihave to admit I get confused by the number of greats and the name Richard is in every generation, Richard horricks Parkinson. He built bank house and the attached houses. Bank house sticks out slightly with a side window we think it was so he could keep an eye on his tenants.
The house stayed in the family until 1973.

Listed between 201 and 205 Blackburn Road

Richard Parkinson, Head, married, 60, Wholesale Draper, Haslingden
Ellen, Wife, Mar, 46, Manchester
Thomas, Son, 23, Wholesale Draper, Haslingden
Ada, Daur, 18, Pupil Teacher, Haslingden
Fanny, Daur, 14, Scholar, Haslingden

Ellen and family were still living there in 1901 and just Thomas and his sisters in the later census.  In 1901 Thomas was listed as a Print Waste Merchant. In the 1881 census they were living at 163 Blackburn Road, Haslingden.  There does not appear to be a 203 or Bank House on Blackburn Road  listed in 1881

Richard Horrocks Parkinson 1865 and Thomas 1867, abode Haslingden, father's occupation manufacturer.
Ada Feb. 1873 abode Blackburn Road, father's occupation wholesale draper.
Fanny 1877, abode Magdelen ? Bank, Blackburn Rd., father's occupation wholesale draper.
Transcriptions on LANOPC. Transcriber was unsure about the word before "Bank".
