Thank you so much for all the info!!  I'm going to show this to my mom and brother today.  Yes, share you can share this with the society on the island.  Any pictures are welcome too.  Thanks for giving me the articles to look up also.  I had remembered her saying something about the baby contest.  Look at all that hair!!  Just fascinating.  Thanks to you all again!!

Hi Judith!  Wanted you to know that I showed the article of the baby picture of my Uncle Jack to my brother.  He pulled out the original of it that he has in an antique frame.  I knew I had seen it before!  I'll have to get some pictures of Jack and scan them in to share with all.  Thanks again!

Hi GuppyNiece,

Now that you've posted three times you can send me a personal message with your e-mail address. Just click on the little green scroll under my avatar picture. (This keeps your e-mail address safe from spammers & scammers. Please don't post it on the public board or a moderator will remove it.  ;))

Once I have the address, I'll forward some Benbecula photos to you.

I've sent a message off to the Benbecula historical group about this connection.

I'm absolutely delighted for you & your family! :)

Also, a hearty Thank You to all the Chatters who have searched out such wonderful details of this man's all-to-short life. I had no idea what to expect when I posted the first message & you've blown me away (as usual)!  :-*

Hello I have been researching my guppy ancestors and came across this site. It seems that we ("guppyniece") share the same gt gt (+ grt in my case) grandfather Robert Guppy who was born at Chilfrome Dorset 1799 but subsequently lived at Melbury Osmond Dorset .
His eldest son by his first wife Jane Atkins was William Flower Guppy born 26 Aug 1827 at Melbury Osmond .  He was half brother to my gt gt grandfather Henry and thus  was  my gt gt uncle.
If the research is correct William Flower was your gt  grandfather and father to George Edward  born 1882 Perth , Jack's father .  Am I correct in assuming that George was your Grandfather?
You probably know that the  name "Flower" to which Jack objected originated from Robert's grandmother Molly Flower who married John Guppy in 1758.

Trust this makes sense to you !  Would be very pleased to know if the connections are correct and to hear of any other relations that are living in Australia.  I can then fill in the other direct Robert Guppy descendants that I have been in contact with  in England.
With best regards
Chris

Hi Guppyrelation

Welcome to RootsChat. :)

Guppyniece hasn't been on this site since the summer of 2012. She may still get notice of your post & respond to you. If she doesn't respond in the next few days, post here again. I may have retained her e-mail address on a filed correspondence. It would take some looking, so let's see if she responds first.

My fingers are crossed. New family connections are a wonderful thing.

It seems that Guppyniece is not accessing this site at the present time, could you try and work your magic?
With kind regards

I haven't been on the website for sometime and I don't get any notifications it seems.  Did get the email from Jan and responded.  If there are any problems, just email again.
