Soap And Candle Maker Bristol Census

Could someone please look up the 1841 and the 1851 census
for a "Stephen Thomas"  a Soap and Candle Maker, 22 West Street Bristol. I am after his children information mainly for the 1841 census

Hi,

I'm having trouble finding Stephen THOMAS a soap and candle maker anywhere in Bristol. In 1851 West Street only seems to go up to number 17.

Where and what date do you get the address and do you have any other info about Stephen, DOB, POB or another census entry?

There is also a West Street in Bedminster (but no Stephen Thomas).

Technically, Bedminster was not part of Bristol at that time, and was part of Somerset.

There is a 22 West Street in Clifton, Bristol but Stephen Thomas is not there. The family living there are Davis (James & Sarah) a Tobacco Manufacturer.

I think we need some details for Stephen if we can hope to try and find him.   The only 'Thomas' that I can find with the occupation of soap and candle maker  in the Bristol area in 1851 is Herbert Thomas ?

Did you get this information from a marriage cert?

If so - addresses on marriage certs are those of the bride and groom - not their respective fathers.   

If it is from a marriage cert - what is the name and birthyear/birthplace of the person you are researching

Matthew's Directory of Bristol, 1851 doesn't show a Stephen Thomas in it's list of Soap & Candle Manufacturers & Dealers.

There is a R. Phillips and son at 43 West Street and also a Thomas, Fripp, & Thomas at Broad Plain?

I got the first bit of information from Pigot's of Gloucestershire 1830.

The second one when he went bankrupt 1834

I have just noticed a company called "Christopher Thomas &
Bros. soap manufacturers he may have been connected to them.
