This is perhaps the death reg for that particular JOHN EDWARDS
In this case there is no second given name THOMAS.
The father's name is correct as given by Russell, and the mother's first is correct, but not her surname which should be JONES.

Thanks Sue and Gerry for your latest replies and links.The earlier Electoral Roll entries for Alma Maria,1915 included would perhaps indicate a much earlier death for John Edwards?No second name is given for John on early Census entries in the UK or his marriage entry to Alma Maria Jones in 1887,both in the "Free BMD" Index or the more local Cumbria BMD you will find on UKBMD.

I thought John may have died around 1910.

The 1905 electoral roll has John ( a miner) & Alma residing at Brown St Charters Towers.

1908
John is still at Brown St Charters Towers & Alma at Queenton which is a suburb of Charters Towers and Brown St is near Queenton so she could have still been with John at Brown St except the roll entries are different.

1913
Alma Edward was a housekeeper at Dalrymple which means she was a housekeeper somewhere in the subdivision of Dalrymple which is not Charters Towers but the area surrounding Charters Towers.  There is no John Edwards at Brown Street in Charters Towers either.  Robert Faulk is also in the subdivision of Dalrymple somewhere.

1915
Alma and her daughter are at the Great Northern Hotel in Charters Towers where Alma is a Housekeeper.  John Edwards is not a Brown St Charters Towers.

Page 52 of R T edwards WW1 records has his address in December 1918 as Willowvale Pimpama Qld.  The 1919 Electoral Roll has Alma Edwards a dairymaid at Willowvale Pimpama.

I lose Alma after this date.


I think it would be benefitial to contact the Charters Towers Regional Council and get them to email you the burial details for the Edwards after say 1905, I have done this a few times and the service has been excellent.

Thanks once again Gerry,I think the later death of the John Thomas Edwards is unconnected.I have to say that whilst it is an entirely new line for me,placing all the info together is not helped by the fact that apparently the Edwards descendants in Queensland have been following quite a few false trails!

Adding an address here ....

According to ROLAND's record he was born in CHARTERS TOWERS.

In 1916 when he enlisted, his mother ALMA, who is his next of kin, was living at the Cnr of Vulture and Stanley Streets, Brisbane

Noting also that ALMA JNR was married out of BRISBANE

In 1915 "Warenda" a boarding house on the corner of Stanley & Vulture streets South Brisbane was under new management, maybe Alma had a job there as a housekeeper just as she had in Charters Towers.  Just a theory.
