Ingle Baptism
« on: Sunday 27 November 11 10:59 GMT (UK) »
Hello All

I am trying to find the baptism of Joseph Ingle born about 1798 (from 1841 census) Problem is I don't think he was born in Huntingdonshire (again 1841 census). He married Harriet Elizabeth Griffin October 1826 at Leighton Bromswold and both were from that parish at the time. Elizabeth was baptised April 1806.

Regards, Bluesea

If we assume the marriage date was correct, there was a Joseph Inglis born in Scotland in 1782.  Inglis/Ingles were pretty much interchangeable, and meant "English".

We could list every Joseph Ingle from the IGI but you'd still to need to prove that one of them was the Joseph who married in Hunts. In any event there are many Ingle burials in Hunts so he might still be from Hunts, notwithstanding the 1841 census.

Have you found him after 1841? Burial, census?

In 1851 Harriet 44 born Layton Hunts was living in Bedford with two of her sons. It looks as though she's described as widow. But also in 1851 in St Neots Union workhouse in Eaton Socon  was Joseph Ingle 54 b Gt Staughton Hunts. Gt Staughton and Leighton Bromswold are only 5 miles apart.

Hunts isn't well covered on the IGI. However Gt Staughton parish register has been filmed by the LDS, unlike many Hunts parishes. That's where I'd start looking for a baptism. You can order and view a microfilm at your nearest LDS Family History Centre

Edit - but I see I gave you all this earlier in the year
