Maurice Collins b. 1905
« on: Wednesday 30 November 11 23:30 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to complete a History of the Collins family.  I am told that Maurice Collins b.1905 baptised in Parish/District of Clashmore Co Waterford served in the English army and was killed during 2nd World War. His fathers name was JOHN COLLINS & mother NORA MANSFIELD.

I would appreciate any help on where I might locate any information.

Thank you.

Hi and welcome to Rootschat

This is the 1911 entry for the family but there is no death for Maurice in WW2 on www.cwgc.org that fits the profile given

Thanks for reply. Think the family source must have this information wrong.  I had also searched the CGC. Thanks again for your help.

Hi, thank you for your reply.  The parents for the Maurice on the link you gave are incorrect.
Do you know if there are any records for WW2 soldier enlistments etc on any site.

Thanks.

hi
is there someone in the family who may know what regiment he was in at least that would give you more to search with , as to enlistment info i,ll stick my neck out and say no mostly all ww2 documents and such are still held by the mod which makes sense as a lot of the old boys are still alive and as such they are covered by the privacy laws .
regards
trevor
ps have you looked through normal death records for him just in case he had been demobbed before he died also where does the info come from that says he died while in service .

I am trying to help his grand nephew research the family.  He has no information other than he was told he died in the War.
Will try your suggestion and look at deaths maybe this might throw up something.
Thanks again.  Had thought the WW2 records would not be available yet.
