Looking for info on Richard McGuirk I find his son Edward in Booterstown Co Dublin in 1850 but I think Richard is from Wicklow. Edward married Mary Ann Davis which is also a Wicklow name.

In the 1901 census there are lots of McGuirks around Powerscourt and Enniskerry but I cant link a Richard to them.

Hey there! I'm related to Edward and Mary Ann aswell. They're my great great grandparents. I don't know if you've found this out yourself already or not but the McGuirks were from Glendalough. Edward was the only one of Richard and Sarah's children born in Dublin.
My granny always told me and still tells me that Mary Ann's dad Richard Davis was a stevedore in Liverpool and they moved back and forth a bit. Don't know if you've heard that or not. Would like to pm you when I can if you don't mind.

Louise,

This might also explain the Peter McGuirk whom I have been trying to trace. I thought he might be from Derrylossery. He died at age 36 in the 1860's is  listed as a soldier  and is buried with Richard and Sarah in Deansgrange Cemetry.

Richard and Sarah had a son Peter McGuirk who was baptised in Glendalough in 1831 so yes I think you're right about the Peter in Derrylossery. Happy to be able to give you some information after all that time!
Sorry for not replying sooner, moving house at the moment! I'll send you a message.

I still cant believe that I have made contact with some relative. I have been five years going through parish records and you will now be able to fill in blanks. Rootschat has been such a help. The armed forces section was able to give me great assistance with army records from WW1 and medal rolls. The only brother I need to trace now is William McGuirk who was born in 1887.

Thank you so much for these. Now that I have a Wicklow connection they might prove to be so useful. I had kept my search to Dublin until now, but, with Louise' help I will fill in lots of gaps and then it is off to Wicklow. Thank you for taking the trouble to post I really appreciate.
