Hello Llanty

It seems that Hazar and Maud (Maude) had a great many children born in New Zealand.  ;)

Sometimes it helps to bring descendants forward, if we list the names of children.

DIXON Births

1881 - Annie
1881 - George

1887 - Daisy Hannah
1889 - Emma Patience
1890 - Robert Charles
1892 - Tom
1893 - Ida Maude
1896 - **  Child's name not recorded  **
1897 - Dulcie Mildred

All these children have parents named as   ...

Maude Eveline (or Maude Evelyn) and Hazar (sometimes indexed incorrectly as "Hagar")

1878 - Henry

1882 - Isabell Mary

1884 - Millicent

Hi Llanty

You may have already seen this brief obituary published for Hazar ??

http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz

"Northern Advocate" -- 22 September 1916 - Local & General

[It mentions his survivors as being "Mrs DIXON and several children" (unnamed) ... so it may be that some of the children listed in the birth indexes perhaps did not reach adulthood ?]

Hello again Llanty

Somebody (whom I assume may be in New Zealand), has a Family Tree for Hazar DIXON's son Charles Alfred (b. 1877).
[You can find this at ancestry.com ]

Wow this really does work! Thanks to everyone who has taken the trouble to reply. Some of the information I already have, particularly the stuff from Brampton, Huntingdonshire. The extra information re Hazar/Hazor/Hagar etc is particularly useful. I have someone who is taking a photo of his gravestone and am particularly keen to come up with photos of anyone on that side of the family. Thanks a lot Carole W , Lucy2 and Janette

Hi
This is not my family but in the stack of info found while investigating my 'rare' family name, is:

NZ MARRIAGE:
1920  SMITH Leo Joseph/DIXON Emma Patience

SMITH Leo Joseph - died 23 June 1951 aged 71 years, at Wanganui; husband of Emma Patience; it then lists  3 daughters and 5 sons ['Wanganui Chronicle' 25 June 1951}

SMITH Emma Patience - died 18 December 1980 aged 91 years at home, 6 Mason Terrace, Wanganui; then lists 3 daughters (with married names) and 5 sons ['Wanganui Chronicle' 19dec1980]

If you PM me, I can supply the names of the children - but it looks as if most are still alive.

Best wishes
Elli
