« on: Saturday 10 December 11 21:46 GMT (UK) »
I was looking for my ancestors in Keston Kent and have found many 1911 ILKESTON Derbyshire census mistranscribed. States clearly Ilkeston Derbyshire but comes up as Keston.
Just thought i'd tell you this.
Have reported to Ancestry.com but they suddenly have a high volume of emails to go through... l wonder why!

It's happening everywhere - many places with HAM in the name (Southampton, Peckham, Eltham, etc) have been transcribed as HAM in the Place of Brth column.  It's a right royal screw-up !  :(

a case of 'more haste ...' I fear.

80% of the people I wanted to view had transcription errors in the names, and about 50% were in place-related words.

Apparently 80% of Devon has not even been included.
You'd think they'd manage to transcribe the county town of Exeter-but nope ::)

Unless it improves I'm cancelling my subscription. I think we all should. Let's give another site a go instead.

Oh dear! I was thinking of subscribing in the new year!
I have had doubts before; I have often tested it .eg I have copies of original entries but there is no reference to the person on the search sites.

I'd still subscribe.  It's still the best site out there, especially if you have connections with London or Australia or the USA, or Canada  :)
